Important regulatory update: SUBTEL certification is NO longer required
Under the new SUBTEL Resolution No. 737, effective February 2026, most short-range wireless devices (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and RFID) no longer require formal SUBTEL certification.
Instead, compliance is demonstrated through a QR code on the product packaging that provides access to the required technical documentation.
Exception:
Only wireless medical devices listed under literals g and h continue to require mandatory SUBTEL certification.
Prerequisite:
A local legal representative in Chile is required
SUBTEL Resolution 737 – Effective February 2026
Why it’s important:
SUBTEL Resolution 737 introduces new mandatory requirements for the import, distribution, and sale of short-range wireless devices in Chile. All devices must comply with this regulation starting February 2026.
Issued by the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL), the resolution ensures that all devices operating with radiofrequency meet technical and safety standards while modernizing compliance processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
SUBTEL Resolution 737 Compliance in Chile
New requirements for short-range wireless devices · Effective February 22, 2026
1 What is SUBTEL Resolution 737, and what are the new requirements in Chile?
Resolution 737, issued by Chile's telecommunications authority (SUBTEL), establishes new compliance requirements for short-range wireless devices.
- Effective February 22, 2026, all applicable devices must include a QR code on the product packaging that links directly to digital technical documentation and a Declaration of Conformity.
- The resolution applies to both new devices and existing models approved by SUBTEL.
2 Which products are subject to Resolution 737?
The requirements primarily apply to:
- Short-Range Devices (SRDs)
- IoT equipment
- Various wireless transmitters (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, RFID, tracking units, radar sensors)
3 What will the new process be like to comply with the new QR code requirement?
Our process is streamlined for full compliance:
- Submission:Provide all required technical documentation for the device.
- Processing:Our team validates and reviews the documents for compliance.
- Generation:We create a dedicated SUBTEL-compliant web page containing all required technical data and the Declaration of Conformity.
- Delivery:Receive the official URL and QR code, in digital format and/or ready for print.
- Deployment:Place the QR code on the product packaging, enabling legal commercialization in Chile under Resolution 737
4 Can a single QR code or web page cover multiple models or certificates?
5 What happens if a device undergoes changes? Should its information and test report be updated?
Yes, whenever a piece of equipment undergoes any type of modification, its information must be updated on the website. This update must also be included in your Test Report, if it affects it.
In general, it is understood that whenever the operating characteristics of a piece of equipment are modified, it becomes a new piece of equipment. Consequently, its new operating characteristics must be reflected in your Test Report.
6 What test reports are required for digital documentation?
SUBTEL accepts test reports based on recognized international standards, including:
- FCC (United States)
- EN / ETSI (European Union)
- ANATEL (Brazil)
7 What is the cost for QR code compliance?
Costs depend on:
- Device type
- Technical complexity
- Any additional services required (e.g., documentation review, consulting)
8 Do previously Type-approved models require a new QR code and dedicated web page?
- Devices certified before February 22, 2026, do not require a new web page under Resolution 737.
- It is sufficient to provide a QR code linking directly to the published SUBTEL certificate.
9 Where should the QR code be placed?
- The QR code must be placed in a visible location on the product's outer packaging.
- If this is not feasible, it can be integrated on the device itself or included in accompanying documentation, such as:
- User manual
- Warranty card
- Other printed materials
10 Are certificates issued by the EU or FCC recognized?
Certificates issued by the EU or FCC cannot be recognized. For this to happen, agreements must exist between Chile and the country or organization, such as the European Union, that expressly allow for the approval of this type of certificate so that they can comply with Chilean regulations.
11 How can this QR code be distinguished from others that may also be present on the device?
The standard in question does not regulate any identifier for the QR code. Therefore, as it is not a regulated matter, the person responsible is free to adopt the measure they consider most effective to facilitate the identification of the QR code.
There are no immediate plans to develop a specific logo for this purpose.
12 How does access to confidential information work? How would the implementation of the password, which must be reported in advance to the Undersecretary of Telecommunications in order to access the Test Report, work?
If any of the information contained in the Test Report intended for SUBTEL personnel is confidential, SUBTEL shall have access to the complete Test Report, requiring a password to access the full version.

Important Note:
This is a demonstrative example with fictitious commercial and technical data. A real compliance page must include verified information specific to the actual device.
The point of using dummy text for your paragraph is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters. making it look like readable English.
