Frequently asked questions
Do I need to send samples or test locally?
In 34 of our 35 countries, no. Regulators accept your existing CE or FCC Grant documentation (Guyana accepts the FCC Grant only). In Costa Rica, devices that use cellular frequencies require local testing, and we coordinate it for you.
How long does type approval take?
Between 3 and 10 weeks depending on the country, counted from the day we receive your complete documents. Colombia is the fastest at about 3 weeks. Each country page lists its typical time.
Does the certificate expire?
In most of our countries it does not. Some have a fixed validity: 1 year in Venezuela, 5 years in Paraguay, Aruba and Trinidad and Tobago, 10 years in Bolivia, the Cayman Islands and Saint Lucia, and 15 years in Uruguay.
Who holds the certificate in each country?
Limbo acts as your local representative in every country we cover. This is included in our service, so you do not need a local importer or office.
Do I need special labels on my product?
In most countries labeling is voluntary. Chile requires a QR code that links to the product's information, and Paraguay may request a label, which can be placed in the user manual.
