The Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications has passed new regulations for cellular products. The homologation process for cellular products will now require a certificate before approval after April 5th, 2020 by Peru Telecom Ministry (MTC) in Decreto Supremo N°019-2019. All previous approved cellular devices will need to update and require the specified certificate. Peru has also passed a new law known as SISMATE, which requires cellular/smartphone devices to implement, maintain, and deliver emergency alerts. The alerts are designed to inform the public of imminent threats to safety, natural disasters, etc. SISMATE is currently required for all smartphones/cellular devices, and excludes other devices (e.i., tablet, laptop, etc.).
